I never know what to say or write when someone passes but my grandpa Brinton passed away and this past week I have been reflecting on what I have learned and what I will someday be able to pass on to our kids. My grandpa Fairbourn passed away when I was 10 and I still have very fond memories of him and think of him often. He used to always have Werthers Original candies for us when we would come and we would make this elephant sound with his mouth that he loved to teach us-probably so we could annoy our parents... :)
My grandpa Brinton (gramps) did teach me how to ride a horse how to "drown a worm" and so many other things!!! He is where I get my love for the outdoors and horses from. He let me name two horses and he always told me to give them strong names-like the Indians would do.

My cousins kody and katie and I were the same age and we were constantly together with gramps. He called katie his "katie-did" and he called me "kimberly-kate" I'm not sure if he had a name for kody, poor kid had enough to put up with -with all us girls and all the torture of wearing the "rainbow" skirt and jewlery.... :)

Gramps has left behind a legend and one to keep living through all of us kids. I have many more stories to tell and so much more to say but what was said at the funeral was perfect and I know that we will see each other again and I hope that I can make him proud. I will miss him and will always carry a part of him with me. So until next time gramps...this cowboys hat has a lot to tell.
